Polyurethane Selector Guide

Urethane Product Selector

Key Features:

  • Outstanding impact and dynamic properties
  • Excellent durability and toughness
  • High load bearing capacity
  • Good cut and tear resistance
  • Low compression set
  • Corrosion, Chemical, Oil Resistant
  • Available in a wide range or Physical Properties
  • From jelly soft to bowling ball hard.

Applications:

Polyurethane sheet, rod, and tube have many applications, including strippers, gaskets, bumpers, springs, rollers, metal forming dies, wheels, seals, belts, chute liners, wiper blades, gears, bearings, and many more.

Fabricating:

Durometers 80A to 85D machine and cut easily. Easily glued. Softer durometers can be water jetted or ground and may require freezing before CNC machining and cutting.

Standard Grades:

Polyester and Polyether grades of urethane are used interchangeably in many applications but have some unique differences. Also standard and high performance grades are available in both types. Standard stock hardness sheet and rod comes in 60A (natural amber), 85A (green), and 95A (red). Other durometers (20A-85D) available on a custom run basis.

Polyester grades:

Higher physical properties and cut and tear resistance.

Polyether grades:

Better water resistance, dynamic properties, and can handle higher temperatures up to 200° F.

Special Grades:

HYDEX® 301 (ISOPLAST® 301): Clear Rigid Polyurethane 84D hardness. Excellent clarity when polished, broad range of chemical resistance, and outstanding toughness.

HYDEX®202 (ISOPLAST® 202): Opaque Rigid Polyurethane 85D hardness. Excellent mechanical properties, strength, toughness, dimensional stability, and chemical resistance.

FDA grades: dry and wet FDA approvals.

High temperature grades: can handle up to 300° F.

Flame Resistant grades

ESD and Conductive grades

Aliphatic Urethanes : higher UV resistant grades available.
