Polytetrafluoroethylene, Teflon®
Key Features
Excellent chemical resistance, wide temperature range -350 F to 500 F continuous, slippery, lowest coefficient of friction, excellent electrical insulator, poor mechanical properties unless fillers are added
Applications
Gaskets and spacers, valve components, blades, seals, piston rings, bushings, bearings, slide bearings
Fabrication
Machines and cuts easily, die cuts and stamps (thinner gauges)
Grades
Unfilled PTFE
Glass filled – higher mechanical properties
Mechanical grade – less expensive, lacks resin purity, conductive
Specifications
